Obit of the Day: From Earth to the Nirn

Millions of people have seen the work of artist Adam Adamowicz without even realizing it’s his. Whether it was the post-apocalyptic vision of Washington, D.C. in Fallout 3 or the the world of Nirm home to the continent of Tamriel and its famed province, Skyrim, Adamowicz designed every detail. (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim  was co-designed by Ray Lederer.)

Adamowicz was relatively new to video game design having received a degree in art from the Boulder (CO) College of Art and Design in 2003. He joined Bethesda Softworks which produced both games that Adamowicz designed. Since their release in 2008 and 2011, respectively, Fallout 3 and Skyrim have earned the company $900 million.

Adamowicz was only 43 years old.
